My Italian Adventure: 7 Days of Food, Views, and Fun

I just got back from an incredible week in Italy, and I had to share everything I did! From the fashion capital of Milan to the history of Rome and the dreamy Amalfi Coast, it was a birthday trip I’ll never forget.

Day 1: Travel Day (10/26)

This was my travel day! I packed my bags, double-checked my itinerary, and got on my flight to Milan. I spent the flight resting, watching a movie, and getting excited about the days ahead.

Day 2: Milan – First Day (10/27)

I landed in Milan around 11 AM and headed straight to my hotel to drop off my bags. I stayed at the Sonder Atelier – highly recommend.

After dropping off my bags, I explored Milan. Stopping at the Duomo and enjoying some shopping near by. By 2 PM, I was having lunch at Sophia Loren and had the branzino, asparagus with caviar. It was lovely. A restaurant I had on the list but couldn’t seem to find was Ristorante Cracco. Later, I explored Milan’s most iconic spots:

  • The Duomo di Milano – Literally took my breath away the first time I saw it in person
  • Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – Shopping here is a vibe
  • I even found time for the Brera District, which is so cute and artsy.

By 5 PM, I went back to the hotel to rest. The plan was to enjoy dinner at The Dome and spend the night bar-hopping in the Navigli district. But, after a long travel day and another full day ahead, I opted for rest.

Day 3: Day Trip to Lake Como (10/28)

I woke up early to catch a 7:45 AM train to Lake Como. I booked a guided tour through Viator, and it was one of the best decisions I made. Lake Como and the towns around it (like Bellagio) are magical! I wandered through cobblestone streets, soaked up the views, and took about a million photos.

I got back to Milan in the evening and kept it low-key and enjoyed an aperol spritz at a shisha bar right across from the Duomo.

Day 4: Travel to Rome (10/29)

I caught a train from Milan to Rome, and by midday, I was checking into my hotel (Sonder Piazza di Spagna – stunning!).

For lunch, I stopped by a local restaurant, which was unfortunately not that great. Afterward, I went back to the hotel and got dressed for a pasta making class.

That evening, I did a pasta-making class (link here). I learned how to make homemade pasta, paired it with wine, and had a fun dinner with my class. It was such a unique experience.

Day 5: Rome – Day 2 (10/30)

I started my day early at 8 AM to beat the crowds at some of Rome’s top spots:

  • Trevi Fountain – And it was CLOSED! I was so sad 🙁
  • Pantheon
  • Spanish Steps
  • Collosseum

Of course, I treated myself to gelato because… when in Rome! 🍦

I took a break in the afternoon to rest at the hotel, then got ready for dinner at Osteria around 9 PM. Afterward, I checked out Narghile, a hookah lounge that had a cool vibe.

Day 6: Amalfi Coast – First Day (10/31)

I took a train from Rome to Naples (this train ride was FIVE hours) and had to catch another train to. From there, I took a bus to the city of Amalfi, and caught a taxi to my AirBnB (this was a longgg travel day) Once I checked in, I was off to explore!

We stayed in the small town of Pogerola, and enjoyed dinner at a local restaurant, it was absolutely divine.

Day 7: Amalfi Coast – Day 2 (11/1)

This was my BIRTHDAYY! We had breakfast at the AirBnB overlooking the coast (just being here felt luxurious).

Later, we went on a sunset boat tour in Positano, which might’ve been the highlight of the trip. Watching the sun dip behind the cliffs was so peaceful.

For dinner, we enjoyed a restaurant in Amalfi which I can not remember the name of, but it was directly across from the boat docks.

Day 8: Back to Milan (11/2)

I took a train back to Milan for my final night. I used this time to shop and enjoy one last aperitivo before heading home.

Day 9: Heading Home (11/3)

It was bittersweet to leave, but I felt so fulfilled. Italy was everything I hoped it would be – and then some. This trip inspired me to keep traveling solo and living my best life.

Pro Tips:

  • Book trains and tours in advance – it saves so much stress.
  • Carry a portable charger (your phone will be working overtime with all the photos).
  • Take time to rest. Balancing sightseeing and relaxation made my trip so much better.

Ciao for now, Italy! 🇮🇹✨
